Game Ready Goaltending is proud to introduce Sr. Intructor and Professional Goaltending Mentor – Shaun Fleming.
Shaun is homegrown talent having been born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He first began playing hockey at age five and made the switch to full-time goaltending three years later. This is where he discovered his passion and he has not looked back since.
The entirety of Shaun’s minor hockey career was played in Regina, where he also played AAA in the summers. Shaun’s talent was further demonstrated when he played in the Brick Tournament in Edmonton where he represented Team Saskatchewan. He also played in the Junior Pats program and participated in GRRROWL. Following a AA championship in midget, Shaun continued his competitive career by playing midget AAA with the North Battleford Stars. His tenure with the Stars was cut short due to requiring several surgeries on his shoulder. After the completion of his surgeries, he spent a season playing in between Junior B and Junior A with the Weyburn Red Wings. The next season he played full-time with them; however, the need for more shoulder surgery arose and his involvement with the Red Wings was postponed.
Having endured multiple shoulder surgeries, Shaun ultimately made the decision to discontinue his competitive hockey career and chose instead to pursue a formal education. Shaun is now in the process of completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology through the University of Regina; however, his love for the game wouldn’t quit and he has coupled his education with the vocation of part-time goalie instructor.
Shaun brings a wealth of expertise to Game Ready Goaltending – having already amassed five years’ experience as a part-time goalie instructor. Shaun is proficient in working with goalies of all age and skill-levels and can easily impart instruction and education to his students. Throughout his many years of goalie training, he has built and maintained innumerable great relationships with goalies in the Regina area and he looks forward to continuing this work with the GRG goalie community. Shaun considers it to be a great privilege to witness athletes developing their skills to their highest potential through hard work, determination, and persistence. He looks forward to applying his skills and knowledge to the betterment of the GRG goalie community.
